In this presentation, Yasmin King, Director and Co-Founder of SkillsAware, an AI-powered skills recognition service, shared the journey of how SkillsAware was started – from a shared passion to solve the wicked problem of recognition of skills and experience and provide pathways to formal education, to how the collaboration started and how it’s going now.
Yasmin spoke about its impacts on RPL, employee skills visibility, skills gaps, employee recognition and more.
She also discussed how AI contributes to productivity – doing things better, smarter and quicker. While AI is not a panacea to everything, it supports a change to the culture of skills based hiring and resourcing.
Skills = measurable tasks + context. AI has enabled us to use the granularity inherent in the Australian Training Packages for good.
These reforms tackle systemic issues, such as completion rates, poor implementation of RPL, better skills recognition on migration and enable the right people, right jobs, right time.
There are jobs without people and people without jobs – so the system needs to change, and SkillsAware is part of the answer.
